The Dormy House moves into new premises on Walworth

Jones Lang LaSalle is delighted to announce that The Dormy House has acquired the first premises on Kier Property and Test Valley Borough Council’s redevelopment of Walworth Business Park in Andover, Hampshire. The 37,055 sq ft Plot 27 was granted planning permission in February this year.

Andover based The Dormy House, a UK manufacturer of designer furniture and a family run business established in 1983, will acquire the 18,675 sq ft Plot 27A at the Business Park on a 150 year lease. The development will also include a second speculatively developed unit (Plot 27B) of 18,380 sq ft. All enquiries for Plot 27B should be directed to letting agents Jones Lang LaSalle.

The Dormy House’s managing director, Mark Valenzia, said, “We are excited to move into the new plot on Walworth Business Park and look forward to the continued growth of our family run business. We are proud to remain a UK manufacturing company and this move will allow us to expand our business.”

Kier development manager, George Shepherd, said, “We are delighted The Dormy House has decided to base themselves on the Walworth Business Park. The refurbishment of Plot 27 is the first important step in the regeneration of Walworth and we will look to build on this success.”

The Dormy House, originally established from a garage, has grown into a large UK furniture manufacturer based in Andover. Their product range includes contemporary and traditional furniture, as well as fabrics and wallpapers.

Test Valley Borough Council’s Economic Portfolio Holder, Councillor Peter Giddings said, “I am delighted to see that our partnership with Kier is providing the opportunity for successful local businesses to expand into new premises in the town’s business parks, rather than move elsewhere. The strategy of refurbishing units at Walworth to meet the needs of modern businesses and the demolition of obsolete units to provide new facilities is key to the rejuvenation of the business park. A competitive local economy is a top priority for the council, with new and growing businesses bringing benefits both for the town and the local community.”
